British High Commission, Colombo announces new visa procedure.

UK visa applications from the Sri lanka people will be passed to the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai for processing while passports and the original certificates will remain in Colombo. Further more there will be no change for the visa application fees.

PHASED OUT TRANSFER OF COLOMBO VISA OPERATION TO CHENNAI.

The British High Commission, Colombo is transferring some visa processes to the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai as part of the UK Border Agency's new business model.

A phased transfer of some visa application processes to the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai will begin.

All visa applications will continue to be made at the UK Visa Application Centre, 367 R A De Mel Mawatha (Duplication Road), Colombo. This change will not alter the cost of a UK visa or the level of service we provide

UK visa applications which include any supporting documents must now also provide clear A4 sized photocopies of these. All supporting documents must be translated into English.

Visa application forms and photocopies of applicant's personal documents will be sent by secure courier to Chennai.

The UK Border Agency is responsible for transporting the applications and supporting documents safely. Passports and original documents will remain at the British High Commission in Colombo, they will not be sent to Chennai.

All visa applicants, except for those applying to settle in the UK, should allow between 5 - 15 working days from the date of submission of their visa application before collecting their visa decision

Decisions on visa applications will continue to be made by UK Border Agency Entry Clearance Officers.
