South African will Need Visas to UK
South African passport holders are going to loose their visa free status to UK is going to be abolished. They have to go for normal visa procedures along with biometrics procedure to obtain a visitor visa. The cost will be nearly R 1,000 (£63} for the visa applicant.
Each year nearly 250 000 South African tourists, business community and family visitors going through UK ports.
Recently the British Immigration officers found out that the South African passport was “no longer worth the paper it’s written on”. There were incidents like some corrupt Home Affairs officials have been issuing out genuine passports to people smugglers, foreign asylum seekers and many others who want to go to Britain.
Recently Sir Stephen Lander, chairman of Britain’s Serious Organized Crime Agency, told Britain’s Home Affairs Committee that the case “is likely” to lead to visa controls being placed on all South Africans.
South Africa is from the past trying to stop the passport corruption. While Home Affairs Minister's office said that there were “major issues about the integrity and credibility” of South African passports.
